What We Do
Scholarship
In partnership with Fondacio Asia and having the existing Collaborative English program with Institute of Formation and Religious Studies (IFRS), Institute for Consecrated Life in Asia (ICLA); and East Asian Pastoral Institute (EAPI); Assumption Language College Philanthropic Development Office Foundation, Inc. (ALC PDOFI) was able to provide 180 cycles from Assumption Language College to the scholars and study language according to their needs.
With this kind of scholarship, ALC extends its services to students who are financially challenged and who have leadership skills. This is in response to ALC’s goal in the Church of Asia-Pacific region, which is to promote intercultural understanding and exchange through the use of English language.
Infrastructure
This particular program helps to the constant speaking and listening concerns of the Vietnamese and Chinese students who belong to the majority of the student population. These groups are in dire need of great assistance in improving their listening skills in English and pronunciation, so that they may successfully proceed to their specific religious studies in other theological and religious formation schools. In this way, ALC can greatly contribute to the success in their communication for the achievement of their religious mission goals.
Contextualized Materials
Essentially, ALC is in great need of textbooks that are responsive to the specific needs of the students. With the creation of the contextualized textbooks, the students will greatly utilize the communicative practice opportunities that truly address their specific needs.
Assumption Language College (ALC) specializes in the overall language learning experience. With its flagship course, the General English Language Proficiency Course, the program will be fully equipped with ALC’s expertise in language education. ALC has competent and highly qualified teachers and a contextualized curriculum that always responds to the specific needs of the language learning of the students.
This program will assist the mission of providing contextualized language learning of the Asian missionaries who will soon pursue further studies in English-speaking theological and religious formation schools or universities.
On-going Trainor Formation Program
ALC is always improving its facilities for greater and more quality service to the beneficiaries. The school envisions to build a boarding school in which all the students can have the opportunity to integrate a new language into their learning experience while residing on campus. All amenities that help the students learn a new language are fully provided in the proposed boarding school.

“I started studying in ALC in the first cycle until the 4th cycle of 2020. After that, I came back and stayed in Vietname after studying English in ALC and I am so happy to say that I am now hired as an architect in an architectural firm. Now I am a 1st year student at Saint Paul University Manila and I am so happy to have learned the English language because my Visual Design and Communication course now is a lot easier to understand.”
“I studied English in ALC and I am really happy because my learning has been so helpful now in my studies at Institute of Formation and Religious Studies. I can communicate easily with my teachers and classmates. More imporantly, English helps me to effectively read books and navigate the internet for articles and good reads. I have wrote papers at IFRS about abuse in authority, religion, and jews and gentiles. With a sincere heart, I am grateful to those who had supported me that I had a great opportunity studying English.”
