History

Assumption Language College Philanthropic Development Office Foundation, Inc. (ALC PDOFI) is the fundraising arm of Assumption Language College. It was officially introduced and launched on November 6, 2019 and officially operated on December 9, 2019 at FBR Arcade Building Katipunan Quezon City. It has offered scholarship programs for qualified underprivileged priests and sisters from diocesan congregations and youth lay leaders and together, they help scholars, especially the religious people in Asia Pacific, in fulfilling their service through learning the language they need.

Mission

The Mission of ALC PDO Foundation, Inc. is to provide a venue linking donors and benefactors committed to provide scholarships, contextualized materials, on-going trainers’ formation, and infrastructure projects enhancing the learning environment.

Vision

ALC PDO Foundation Inc. envisions itself in its journey with its global partners, advocates and benefactors in support of advocating worldwide solidarity through language with competency, integrity and global excellence.

ALC PDO Foundation has been instrumental in bridging hope between the needs of the beneficiaries and the mission of ALC. The core of the Foundation’s mission is to extend the opportunity to learn a language to various poor religious congregations and lay organizations through the quality language learning programs of ALC that consequently uplift the missionary lives of the beneficiaries.

Assumption Language College Philanthropic Development Office (ALC PDO) Foundation, Inc.

ALC PDO was officially introduced and launched on November 6, 2019, and officially operated on December 9, 2019, at FBR Arcade Building, Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City, Philippines. It was established to provide a venue linking donors and benefactors committed to providing scholarships, contextualized materials, ongoing trainers’ formation, and infrastructure projects enhancing the learning environment.The main partner of ALC PDO Foundation is Assumption Language College (ALC) that mainly provides contextualized language–focused instruction by globally competent teachers applying the standards of excellence to future international leaders of the Church and of Society. Through ALC, ALC PDO Foundation has implemented scholarship programs for qualified underprivileged priests and sisters from diocesan congregations and youth lay leaders in Asia-Pacific.

As to date, ALC PDO Foundation has been instrumental to scholars for their language learning needs in collaboration with Inter-Institutional Collaboration (IIC) that comprises Assumption Language College (ALC), East-Asian Pastoral Institute (EAPI), Institute of Formation Fondacio –Asia (IFFA), Institute of Formation and Religious Studies (IFRS), Institute for the Consecrated Lay in Asia (ICLA), St. Vincent School of Theology (SVST), Institute of Spirituality in Asia (ISA), and Cenacle Sisters.

Fr. Cristopher Quinal

Augustinians of the Assumption

 

is an Assumptionist Priest. He was ordained last May 4, 2018. He had his Bachelor in Sacred Theology Degree at Loyola School of Theology-Ateneo de Manila University.He also had his units of Philosophy at the University of Santo Tomas and degree in Business Management at Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan. He is currently the Superior and Formator of our Scholasticate House and the Territory Treasurer of the Congregation here in the Philippines. He is also the Treasurer of Assumption Language College. As an Assumptionist, Fr. Christopher Quinal works for the establishment of the Kingdom of God and all that he’s doing is his service to God and His people.

Ariel Balde Vidanes

Augustinians of the Assumption

A “late vocation” as they say, Bro. Ariel joined the Assumptionists in 2016 after his long stint as a professional. After finishing AB Mass Communication major in Broadcast in 1997, he taught at the University of Rizal System (then Rizal State College, Angono Campus), became Head of the Institute of Cooperatives, Economics and Management (ICEM) and the Institute of Arts and Sciences (IAS) in 1998 and 1999 respectively, until he was appointed Campus Director in 2000- 2003. Upon finishing his term as the Director, he was appointed Chair of the University Center for Culture and the Arts (UCCA) which he himself established in 2004. In 2005, he took a big leap from the academe to the corporate world working full-time as Program Officer at Meralco Management and Leadership Development Center (MMLDC) under the Lopez Group in Antipolo City, until he entered the seminary in 2008. In 2010, he came back to work in the same company which spinned-off as the First Pacific Leadership Academy (FPLA), the premiere Corporate University of the MVP Group of Companies.

Fr. Bernard Holzer

Augustinians of the Assumption

is a French citizen, Founder and Director of Assumption Language College (ALC) and President of Assumption Language College Philanthropic Development Office Foundation, Inc.

After studies in Economics and in Theology in Strasbourg (France), he was appointed General Secretary of the French Bishop’s Development Agency (Comité Catholique contre la Faim et pour le Développement). He was elected President of the CIDSE (Coopération Internationale pour le Développement et la Solidarité which can be translated as International Cooperation for Development and Solidarity), an alliance of 17 Catholic development agencies of Europe and North America.

In 1993, he was elected General Assistant to the Superior General of the Augustinians of the Assumption in Rome, where he stayed for 12 years. Among his responsibilities, were to be in charge of Africa, the Eastern European Mission and more recently Asia.In September of 2005, he was appointed to the Assumptionist Foundation in the Philippines. Since June 2009 up to the present, he is Superior of the Philippine Delegation and the Delegate of the General Superior of Asia-Oceania. He was President of APAC (Asian Pacific Augustinian Conference) for six years.He was Founder and President of Kaloob Foundation (an NGO which builds communities and forms leaders). He is currently President of Assumption Language College (ALC), General Manager of Bayard Assumption Media Foundation (a publishing house), and Formator of the Augustinians of the Assumption for Asia-Oceania.

Philip C. Cheng

Mr. Philip C. Cheng finished his Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce Major in Business Management (with Distinction) and his Masters in Business Administration at San Sebastian College-Recoletos, Manila. He is currently finishing his Doctor of Business Administration at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.

He handles different posts in the academe as a full-time faculty and eventually a Department Chair in San Sebastian College (Manila and Canlubang Campus) and the Dean of both the College and Graduate School of Central College of the Philippines.

He also handled a key executive position in the pharmaceutical industry particularly in the field of Business Development for both local and multinational companies like MedChoice Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Innogen Pharmaceuticals, Multicare Pharmaceuticals Philippines, Inc., Lupin Philippines and Pharex HealthCorp.

Currently, he is doing free-lance work in training and business consultancy in both the public and private sector.

Hannah Pauline Pabilonia

Ms. Hannah Pauline Pabilonia finished his Arts Bachelor’s Degree in English at the Polytechnic University of The Philippines. She became an intern at Assumption Language College – Manila, Inc. (ALC) and was employed as an English as a Foreign Language Instructor for intermediate level students in the same school after she graduated in 2018.

With her background in participating in immersions in the North and South Luzon Regions in the Philippines, participating in small projects concerning the education and relief for the poor and the indigenous people, after 2 years in ALC, she was offered the position of the philanthropic development officer for the school’s fundraising arm, Assumption Language College – Philanthropic Development Foundation, Inc. (ALC PDO).
